Meanwhile, some of the members are working on the peony flowers using clay. First, they collected all the petals.
Jessie did explore the hairpin sketches while I gave her suggestion regarding on the shapes and the fill. From our discussion, we decided to create 2 phone cases and 2 hairpin, so we select the right top and bottom as our final hairpin since the output is suit and matched with our phone cases.
For the 1st hairpin, since the peony size is too bigger, we need to reduce it by removing some petals, and they created a second flower which is Yellow lotus.
At last, we managed to finish the first phone cases, put a resin and finalize it with a pink cream glue frame.
We finally finished all of our products before the deadline. Below are the pictures and close up video review for the products.
My task for this tiktok pages are compile all the clip, add subtitles and adjust the voice sound while yiming help me to add background music and sound effect. Meanwhile, the other 3 videos were carried by Jessie, thus we have 1 bonus video clip from Jessie since she ever edited it for her insta story.
Regarding on the tiktok name and profile, I named it "Nyonya Chic 21" Since our theme is peranakan and minnan, but focusing more to peranakan. All of the members were girls, which it means "Nyonya" in Peranakan.
Once the video is finished, I started to upload it, along with the captions and hashtag that related to our topic.

Final Task & E-Portfolio
On this task, we were required to explore various aspects of everyday design. As creative media students, your task is to document and communicate your experiences through a TikTok page and Creating the Product based on the Sketches you have done on Project 1 and 2. This page should serve as a cultural journal, where you record, reflect, and creatively present your interactions, observations, and insights about everyday design. The goal is to communicate your chosen cultural topics to a broader audience, fostering understanding and appreciation of everyday design through engaging short-form videos.
Requirements :
1. Create a Presentation Deck that Consist of :
- Introduction to your project
- 200 word rationale (that you did during Task 1)
- Summary of your data collection (more like a recap of things you did during Task 2)
- Progress of your final project (it could be sketches, digital progression, or anything as long as it shows the progress of your final output - if it's video then your behind-the-scene for example).
- Final output
- Link to your e-portfolio(s) - individual links
- Link to your TikTok account

1. Phone Case and Hairpin Progress (Week 6-7)
At first, I look back to our final sketches design that we did on Project 2 for some preview.

As we receive our feedback from Mr. Zeon to explore the sketches more (only the second sketches were approved) , Jessie do a quick sketches refinement regarding on the second sketches and also the hairpin since it would be too plain with only flower and we need to use more element research that we did during task 2. During week 06, we started to collect the materials by finding it physical and bought it online in shopee. On 16/03/2025, our group decided to meet to start creating the 1st piece of phone case and hairpin. Below are some materials I took photo of.

After that, we started to divide the task. Jessie and me were doing and record for the phone case progress, meanwhile the rest of us was shaping the flower for the clay. For our 1st meeting, we finished 80% for the 1st Phone Case with Peacock and Trial for the Peony Flower.

Our next group meeting happened at 20th - 22th /03/2025. We met on 20/03/2025 to discuss the solutions since we receive feedback that all of the concept need to be redo. Jessie planned to redo the 1st phone case paintings since she think it's not look good. On 20th, we also discussed about our sketch and try to make the hairpin more likely inspired from Cucuk Sanggul.

Our final sketches can be seen on Fig 3.2 . The next day, 21/03/2025, we meet again and continue our products. We paint the second phone cases, redo the 1st phone cases and craft the second hairpin, while other members are completing the flowers so we can glue it together for the next day.

For the second hairpin, we're using stone powder clay since we need the result to be hard. We shape it using hand and utility knife for the motif.

In saturday (22/03), we met at 2 PM and this is our last group meeting and discussion. We plan to finish all the product, took a final photos, testing and record some clip, while finalizing proposal and tiktok video at the same time. |

We still have 2 days before our submission, and my task next is to edit and compile all the video tiktok while working on the proposal before we record for presentation.
2. Tiktok Progress (Week 7)
Previously, Lilin had made a script and plan the tiktok video but I feel like the result is not satisfying, so I took a responsibilities to create a new storyboard and planning the entire clip and video.
First, I divide our video into 5-6 parts, and I choose narrative type, so all of the video should be sequent, sharing our journey from task 1 until final project. View below for our storyboard.

After the storyboard is done, I started to collect all video clip from our drive and asked my members to record clip that we don't have.
For the editing, I start to do video 1,2 and 3 first in Capcut, while the 4,5,6 video, Jessie and Yiming volunteer to help me do the editing.

Regarding on the tiktok name and profile, I named it "Nyonya Chic 21" Since our theme is peranakan and minnan, but focusing more to peranakan. All of the members were girls, which it means "Nyonya" in Peranakan.
Meanwhile "Chic" words means stylish, fashionable, and elegant. It's a formal word from French to describes something that looks trendy, sophisticated, and effortlessly cool. Last, "21" is our group number.
For the profile, I just use the simple and easy to be recognized one. I used beluga cat pic, decorate it with cucuk sanggul, kebaya and peony flowers since it was all of our main element topic.

After the output almost finished, I do the presentation slides. For the first part, I took from previous task, summarize the task 2 and finally presenting our product and final output.

- No feedback were given.
Week 7
- Mr. Zeon think that for the hairpin, it would be too plain with the flower only, Need to improve the design.
- Think about how you can develop different sketches based on what sketches you selected.
- Ensure that the data insight from project 2 are fully integrated into your final design.
- You can try to design 1 more phone case and hairpin. Do the improvement for the third design on task 2 sketches.
- For the second hairpin, you can try to design the symbol from the phone cases, like phoenix head as fire symbol, flower symbol, etc.
- Use dark brown for the background on second hairpin.
- Check the details for your phone case. Refine the frame part (cover with paint more)
- Tiktok Video overall okay, can proceed.
REFLECTIONS
Experiences
Finally I'm able to reach the end of this project. It was super tiring and long journey since we met usually before the submission dates but I'm grateful we all can finish it before the deadline. First, I want to thanks all of my group mates for their hardwork and effort, even though sometimes they work did not satisfied me, led me to redo everything back, I know that they are trying hard for their best. Then, I would like to thank Mr. Zeon for all feedback given to make our group could improved! ദ്ദി✧
Observations
I observed that editing video is quite difficult especially when we don't have a clear storyboard and visual references regarding on how it looks . It's better to planning first and sketches some storyboard despite than script only.
Findings
Working on this final project make me gain a lot of new insights. For products, I learned on how to use cream glue and clay by looking tutorials from internet and my teammates that are doing that. Moreover, as an editor for tiktok video, I have learned capcut tools a lot and this skills could be useful some days.
