On Monday (03/11/2025), we have a playtest consist all of the group members since Edita never tried to play the game before. Overall we all gain a new insight while we play and there were some thing we still a bit confused especially on resource counter and lack of energy card make us hard to gain star.
After we showed to Mr. Shamsul, the bottom mascot had a chance to be finalized. He asked us to explore more shapes like the bottom and try to make it representing sugar.
We sent the mascot progress to Mr. Shamsul and he prefered number 5 and 6 shape. Then jessie did some exploration for mascot face.
By this time, Edita got opinion to use number 10 mouth and we agree of it since it looks great. After a long time, we finally finalized our mascot!
On week 09, After all assets like mascot, card icon was settled, we could start preparing the card illustration and Ilustrator file as well. I joined card design team that consist of me, jessie and pricillia. Before we illustrate, we think about the card back design as well and finalized it during meeting.
And then, we want to see the low fidelity first by providing 4 different type of card (sabotage, star, bonus and advantage). I helped pricillia to do some card sketch and then transfer the color process to Jessie.
After it got approved by Mr. Shamsul, I continue to finished up the card illustration that are left. There are 3 type card I was assigned on which are Sabotage (-1, -2, -3 sugar, glycogen, atp), Advantage (+1,+2,+3 Sugar, Me Again), and Bonus Card (Double the amount, Gain Nothing).
And then, I moved on to design some card using Illustration that I did myself from previous week. There are 6 type of cards as shown below.
We produced 30 amount for the star and did the laser cut in Taylors Studio. The material we used is acrylic board 1mm.
The second version were done by Lizzie. she did add some star accross the design and create the design inside the box. The word "Poppy" represent our mascot name.
At this point I felt the design is good but it lacks some game illustration / component so when user see it, they could imagine how it's gonna be look like.
For the presentation, we showcases our prototype and did some playtest in front of Mr. Shamsul, Ms. Anis and Dr. Luqman.
Additionally, we created some presentation slides in case we need to present in front of class.

On this week, Mr. Shamsul introduce us what are we gonna do on this module. For this semester, we are gonna collaborate with Game Studies modules. Our task is to redesign the game they have made into the final output that would enhance the user experiences of the table top game.

TASK 2
Project Ideation Prototype
On this task, we were required to use the defined human-centered problem statement to 'think outside the box' in identifying new solutions to the problem statement that you’ve created and to start looking for alternative ways of viewing the problem. After that, we need to produce a number of inexpensive, scaled down versions of the product or specific features found within the product, so you can investigate the problem’s solutions generated in the previous task. Prototypes may be shared and tested within your group’s members itself, or on a small group of people externally.

Understanding Game & Playtest
During Week 6-7, I asked Mr Shamsul if my group could get the game prototype so we can do playtest again and check all the cards and component. Luckily we manage to get it!

Finalize Art Direction
After we done the research for the proposal, we will more focused on ideation. This include the creative direction that we have finished earlier but still need some refinement based on week 5 feedback. The revision goes for the moodboard, packaging and color. For the typography, it remains same.
Mascot Design Progression
Starting from week 5-6, Jessie do the exploration again for the mascot after the presentation since it was not apporved yet.

Card Icon Illustration
The card icon were designed so we could easily scan the different of each card. The first attempt were made by Lizzie and we receive feedback that the S (Sabotage) icon design is same with advantage. We could illustrate how sabotage looks, same goes to advantage. The next variations were done by Jessie.
Card Illustration
Around week 3-4, Pricillia did the card design exploration and we agree to go with diamond shape. With the previous mascot design, they (Pric and Jessie) did the sketch for each card, so later we just need to replace the mascot design and start designing the hifi.

We tried to printed the card to see how the prototype looks like. Printing is done by Edita.

On the next week (Week 10), all illustration have been done. I help designed the ribbon to put a text for card type and then tested it if it's match or not.

By looking the card quantity document given from our client, I do an arrangement for each card and ensuring the total is valid.
Resource Counter
For the resource counter, the design was done by edita. After the printing, she would do the cut and function to slide the numbers.
Star and Dice
The star design were done by Jessie. We tend to go with fat rounded shapes to match with our theme. As for the Edita found the unique design and we decide to bought it from Shopee.

Packaging Design
For the packaging design, the first version was done by Edita and then Lizzie want to try exploring and added on some elements.

Booklet Instructions
For the instruction, Lizzie was in charge to do this part. The book design were done in Adobe Indesign. View our Miro Board for clear images.
Physical Prototype (Printed) & Presentation Day
After we have completed all design phases, We sent the file we want to print to Mummy Design (29/11) to print the card, resource counter, book and packaging. After then we receive the items around 2-4th December. The results were fine and we only think the packaging print is not satisfying due to Mummy fault.

FEEDBACK
Week 6
- For the mascot design, the design should be suited for the target audiences (14-21 yo). Try to not make it too cute.
- Not everyone know the sugar structure, instead it can be more simple like a cube shape.
Week 7
- The new mascot version looks better and Mr. Shamsul suggest to go for number 6. Jessie then explore and refine the mascot expression.
Week 8
- The icon on the corner might be too small and people don't really know the meaning of 's,a,b,s'. We could draw the shapes that illustrate the meaning of it and think again for the icon placement.
Week 9
- Mr. Shamsul likes the card shapes since it was unique. He want us to implement some text for the icon like sabotage, star, bonus and advantages.
Week 10
- No Class. Continue with the Progress.
Week 11
- Good Job that we are able to finish the prototype product.
- Remove the ribbon title for card design, smaller the illustration a bit so it could give a space for the description to stand out because it was important for the gameplay.
- Define a reason for choosing the color.
- We could change the token design like star into sugar cube. We need to make sure that all elements are connected for each other and have a meaning.
- Packaging design could be improved.
