PROJECT 1B
Sound Shaping
On Week 09, We got to introduced new application which is "Adobe Audition", an Applications for audio recording and editing. We were given a tutorial on this link (Here) and our task is to recorded our own voice in 5 seconds.

Next we had to edit the sound following the requirement type given by Mr. Martin :
  • Voice of Phone Call
  • Voice coming from inside the closet
  • Voice of Toilet / Bathroom
  • Underground Cave
  • Alien / Orc Voice
First I recorded my own voice in 5 second and move it to google drive to be downloaded and import it to Audition. Then I started to edit the first voice which is the phone call using effect rack - filter and eq - parameter equalizer.

Next I create again a new multitrack and applied parametric equalizer for the second voice, inside of the closet. I used muffled sound tutorials given in the slide.

Following the third voice which is the Toilet voice, I had to make it echoing by using track effect and choose Reverb instead of parametric equalizer.
Fig 4.3 Progress (Toilet/Bathroom) Week 10 28/06/2024
On the fourth sound, I used the same effect as the third voice which is reverb since both voice has the same echo effect. The difference is the underground cave sound needs a bit echoing. I increased the wet level so it sounds more deeper in underground.

Lastly the alien voice seems a bit random for me. It might use different effect, so I searched the tutorials on Youtube. I did not found it in Audition version but only in premiere pro version. From the premiere pro, they used "Flanger" effects which it could be found in Audition in Effect track - Modulation - Flanger and Adjust it until the sound began like an Alien.

After I finished all the sounds, I export it in file - export - multitrack mixdown - entire session - choose file in browse - change format to MP3 - OK.

REFLECTIONS
These project is both interesting and little difficult for me. When it comes project to using video application like after effects and premiere pro, I found that my performance was slow rather than using drawing and editing image apps like illustrator and photoshop. The reason behind this problem is that I'm not too familiar with many tools inside the software so it makes me hard to finished the project quickly. Moreover, I was afraid that the outcome does not good until I had to made the backup work which I edited on my phone.

From this task, I learned a new tool which is pitch shifter that could changes our voice became a man/ female, woman, kids, etc. I found this project became interesting when I know the mechanic really well and I'm grateful I could learned a new things on this project 1.
