PROJECT 2 : Shooting Practice & Editing
We started do the shooting after one group finished already. We were doing the scene 7, where Waymond is hugging Evelyn.
WEEK 6 - PRODUCTION
This week, we do the production part which is shooting. We setup all the camera, lighting, reflections and sound before start to shoot it.
After around 2-3 Hours of Shoot, we finally finished all the scene. Here are the result of Week 6 Activity that we need to download and combine it to do the editing task on next week :
To apply and edited the color, click window on the menu bar and choose workspace - color. We can adjust it by drag the point as we want. First thing I do was create a teal and orange color and I tried it on the fighting scene between W and Guard.
Then I adjust the scene clip and cut it using razor tool (c) and put it next to / before the text. For the video clip, there were some transition (right click - apply default transition) I applied to make it look smoother.
When I almost reached the end of the video, I added movie title, coming soon and more information when it is available.
To make the cinematic text, I used this tutorial below :
l making sure that the music volume is good by adjust the level of it. Next I export the video, render and upload it to Youtube.
I moved to the capcut to do the editing. First, I cut out the video and compiled it first. Then I click to filter - adjust the brightness, contrast, HSL, saturation and others. I used these tutorials to helps me create a good colors.
After the color grade is finished, I searched on black video and insert it by click the overlay on menu on the bottom. After Overlay, find a mask then use rectangle shape and at last click invert so the video would looks like covered by the black camera. Follow this video for tutorials.
Before finishing part, I added some text about the story from the painting I draw. The painting storytelling a dreamer and it is to supporting people who had dream to keep going and do not be afraid for any challenge because there's always a chance if we keep moving.
After that, I added some transition which is fade in and diamond zoom for the opening while the last part, I added fade out transition. At the finishing touch, I added some typewriter sound effect and "life goes on" guitar music by BTS because the music match the video meaning I presented on where we had to keep going because life goes on.

LECTURES 7 (WEEK 7 Color Correction vs Color Grading)
The process of coloring digital video footage involves three main tasks which is:
1. Establishing Picture Profile
- A picture profile refers to a set of parameters that determine the characteristics of footage. Popular picture profiles for professional video are ‘C-Log’ (Canon) or ‘S-Log’ (Sony), etc.
- Picture profile do establish baked in- parameters of footage, specific profiles to give more obedient image and maintain consistency across footage.
2. Color Correction
- Color correction refers to adjusting white and black levels, exposure, contrast, and white balance to give you an image with accurate, unprocessed-seeming colors.
- The purpose of color correction is to ensure that subsequent color adjustments have more precision, and to create visual consistency for the footage and scene.
3. Color Grading
- Color grading refers to the stylized color scheme of the footage. It can be super extreme like in many popular films, or it can be rather subtle so as to achieve color fidelity like with nature documentaries.
- A color grade do stylized the color scheme, evokes specific emotions and transform footage for the final look.
- The basic color terms used in color grading software and cameras are hue, saturation, and brightness (HSB). Hue refers to the color itself, saturation refers to the intensity of the color, and brightness refers to the lightness or darkness of the color. HSB color theory is used to create mood and color schemes in films and videos.
- Saturation is where the colors "pop" or become "muddy" depending on the amount of grey information in the color. Adding pure white or black to the color will result in a darker or lighter brightness value.

WEEK 5 - PRE PRODUCTION
On this week, we were divided into 3 group that consist of 10-12 people to do a simulation working as a production crew. We were given a 7 video clip to demonstrate it from Everything, Everywhere All at Once Movie. (View Here for the Materials).
Firstly, we divided each person to choose what role they want. After we fixed it, we confirm it to Mr. Martin. Below are the List of Name and their task.

WEEK 7 - COLOR CORRECTION & GRADING EDITING
In class, Mr Martin brief us to changed our color of the video to be better/ contrast. By click window - color, we could adjust the color of the video.
There were some color combination we need to apply it on our video :
- Teal & Orange
- Bluish (Cold)
- Greenish (Cold)
- Brownish (Warm)
- Desaturation 50-70%
- B&W High Contrast
Try to made the video creatively like a movie teaser. Example below :
At first, I tried to edited the video and sound first then I tried to apply color correction of the video. When I edited the sound, I use essential sound - dialogue - repair - reduce noises and rumbles to reduce the back sound noise in the video

I used these tutorials to create teal and orange color :

After I finished edited the color correction and grading, I began to edit the scene like a movie trailer. Before I started to edit, I do brainstorm about what trailer I would like to make and the quotes I'm gonna used. (Source : Here).
First thing I do is create a black video (new item- black video) and add text on it. I made the fade effect on for the text by adjust the keyframe on mask path.

PROJECT 2B
Shooting Practice & Editing (Insta/Tiktok)
On this project, we work on individual to create a 60 second TikTok video editing. There is no theme for the video. The key is the video should related to ourselves and expressing our interest. We began these project by fill out the proposal slide given by Mr. Martin to show our idea of what video we will create.
FINAL PROPOSAL :

On Week 08, Mr Martin suggested us that we had to started to create just one clip as our preview for the video. I choose to create the 1st clip for this week.
By Using Capcut, I adjust the saturation, temperature, shadows, etc to made the color looks better. I also tried on to add some effects.
Vid 4.3 1st Cut W8 Week 08 14/06/2024
On next week, when I looked again the video cut, I think it is still not looks really cinematic and retro. So I planned on the new idea where I would like to add black box or like super 8 mm camera overlay. I also think about what I want to draw.
Since it almost near the deadline, I want to draw something simple and quick but with a deep meaning from it. I do the record in my house with a lighting from the window. Below are the cut of the video :

REFLECTIONS
This project has taught me about creative editing using premiere pro and capcut. I learned many tools and effects used for example changing color by windows menu - workspace and color in premiere pro. I also discovered some tools like overlay, adding text in capcut since I never used capcut before.
I would said that editing video is not really my passion and I did not feel enjoyed while doing it. When I was in high school, I do like it a little and I often create drawing video in Tiktok but only with simple editing by just combining video and adding text. Editing a trailer video using premiere pro seems to be heavy tasks for me but I'm grateful because at least I got to learn and introduced something new even if it is not my interest ;).
