FINAL PROJECT ( Self Titled )
1. LECTURES
- On this task, we need to create one poster and an animation of the poster. Mr Hafiz gave a tutorial especially about the Animation/GIF part :
You will use the font created (Typo) in a poster that features your self-portrait (DIP), and you will weave a related motive (IVN) through the font and image.
The end result is an integrated poster :
Size: A4 (2480 pixels x 3508 pixels (print resolution) 595 pixels x 842 pixels (screen resolution)
Your assignment will be evaluated based on the following criteria:3. FINAL PROJECT
In short, I would like to combine my habit and my future dream in one canvas. I hope to be satisfied with my own work.
After image is done, I find an element that i'm gonna used in my poster.
The next step, I Improved the photo colour by adding adjustment layer and adjust the brightness/contrast and color balance. Moreover, put a blanket images to fill the empty bottom.
I draw an eclipse above of my head using eclipse tool in shape.
As a result, It really looks good after the revision. I continued to draw more elements which is bone hand, rocket and hanging flower.
I'm having fun when choosing the color (especially the rainbow one) because all vibrant color match to another one and i didn't had any difficulty on it.
I choose the word "Doing Good Things!" Because I want to express celebration of personal growth, self-care, and the empowering journey towards self- discovery. I want to persuade others that self love is important for yourself by doing good for yourself.
Tested in Photoshop and adding shadow on it.
I showed up to Mr Hafiz these example and he told me the typography is a bit subtle. It need more attention by changing the place and the style. A bit curious happens on it because the poster is full of elements and there is no place to put the typography except the bottom one.
At the end, choose file - export - add to render queue. Edit the output and click render. I moved to inshot to adding an audio of the animation. "Toy Piano" by Wayne Jones is the good choice for my animation.
When making the poster, I realized it stands not only as a visual representation of self-care but also as a personal testament to the transformative power of artistic exploration. The fusion of static and dynamic elements in the poster and animation reflects the dynamic nature of personal growth, emphasizing that the process, like the final outcome, is a beautiful and evolving work of art.

- Self Titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression.
- The main idea is to build up self confidence and discover their interest.
- In the world that full of digital technology, self titled mostly refer to an artist/ the creator that created the artwork. For example Taylor Swift had a self titled debut album that the contents refers to her.

2. INSTRUCTIONS
FINAL TASK : SELF TITLED - 40%
Our final task consists of integrating the challenges from 3 different modules;- Weave a related motive (IVN) through the font and self-portrait. This motive should convey a narrative or theme that reflects your personal or artistic identity.
- Experiment with typography and layout to integrate the motive seamlessly with your font and self-portrait.
- Ensure the visual narrative created supports the overall message of your poster.

- Creativity in weaving the related motive into the font and self-portrait (25%)

- Typography and layout design (15%)
- Artist rationale and presentation in the e-learning portfolio (10%)
DEADLINE : End of WEEK 14
3.1 Concept Development (WEEK 11)
First thing first, we need to explore ourselves to know what we want to draw by starting to create a short biography. The biography could tell about us, habit, personality, dream, etc. In photography class, we were given a template to create it in four paragraph.

| PARAGRAPH 1 | As an introvert, I've always found solace and inspiration in the quiet corners of my mind. Just like my feline companions, I thrive in the comfort of my own space, cherishing moments of reflection and deep thought. Rather than that, one of my bad habit is i like to procrastinate my work and do it near the deadline. |
| PARAGRAPH 2 | During my leisure time, I loved to play with my cat, playing game, drawing what i want, and treat myself something like eating yummy food, and watch youtube. |
| SUMMARY | Sometimes, I would like to experience something different from my daily life. I tried to find a color in the monochrome. For example, got a new social circle even with different backgrounds and nationality and mostly supportive for each other. Lastly, I want to have a good me-time where i could chill and listening to myself in silent place. |

After I created the biography, I started to think of what I would like to express in my self titled by creating a basic concept in four paragraph.
INTRO | Based on my short introduction, I had an idea to describe myself by combining two options. One is my habit (personalities, things i like to do). Two, is my dream/ future experience (in fourth paragraph). |
PARAGRAPH 1 | To present the "my habit", Poster with the girl in the jar in my Moodboard is a reference on it. It describes the girl inside her places. As my personalities is introvert, I also like to do things in my comfort places. I could add my habit photo around the pot to fulfill myself. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | The next one is the "future". I would like to use monochrome color for my potrait and the future would be colorful. Poster 1 and Poster 3 could be the choice for second idea. I tried to combine it. For illustration, i would add a flower illustration and myself behind it to express the silent comfort place and draw a supportive type of friends. |
SUMMARY | Hopefully, I could fulfill this task by creating a good pieces as i can and be proud of myself for the output. Because this is a big task that could depend our grade, I want to develop it more by adding unique idea rather than previous task. |

Sketch #1
I tried to made retro theme using vibrant color. I create blob as a decors and myself inside it around the "habit". The rocket in the top symbolize the "future" which is go infinity and beyond. Lastly, the typography "Let it good!" means do better for myself.
Sketch #2
Inspired from Poster on the right side (girl in flower and with the skeleton one). I found this poster is interesting and had a potential. Turns out to be good after i sketches on it. I tried to Illustrate using poster pose and the head is blowing with blob filled with the things i like as to express on myself. I add the flower to expressing "comfort silent" place and the skeleton could means another side of me is trying to unite in myself.
Sketch #3
Same with the sketches #2, Sketches #3 only had a little different in the flower. I made the flower small to avoiding crowd and instead of it, I could add the little hanging flower. I'm not sure for the typography sketches #2 and #3 because it did not express the poster means. As a result, i tried it on the last until the poster is done.
I go with the sketch #3 as suggested from Photography classes. I tend to recreate the sketch into the clean version.

3.2 Photoshop (Digital Photography & Imaging) (WEEK 12)
I used photoshop most of the time to create this poster. Firsly i took a photo of myself then remove the background by using Quick Selection Tools in Photoshop.

After i done adding all the photo elements, I moved to Ilustrator to draw my illustration elements.
3.3 Illustration (Illustration & Visual Narrative) (WEEK 12)
At first, I draw the rainbow blob and showed it to Mr Hafiz. He told me to made the blob more wider so it could cover more space.

Back to the Photoshop, I moved all of my illustration element by select and Ctrl c + v (Select as smart object then rasterize layer).

3.4 Typography (Typograhy) (WEEK 12)
I created 'eline' regular in Typography class and i'm gonna used it on this task. Here's the preview :

Relative Motive of The Font and Self Potrait?
The font also motive me to made a theme of my poster floral and spiral waving elements. I found it matched on my poster for example the rainbow and the hanging flower had a spiral shape and little tail on the end of it.

At first, I typed the font in Ilustrator and distorting it to made it lying down in the blanket.

After i think and ask my relatives feedback, I made my decisions to put it around my hands. I search for tutorial to made curves font. (to do so, create eclipse in shape tool the choose type - type on a path tool)

Mr Hafiz said that it looks more better than before. I started to finalize my poster and compose it on after effects.

3.5 Animation (Digital Photography & Imaging) (WEEK 13)
Using After Effects, I save the file into Psd then move it in AE by file - import - composition retain layers.
I searched some tutorials to made waving effects and swaying the flower below :

I began the process step by step from one layer on top until bottom. For the effects, I'm used Wave Warp and CC Bend. More than that, I just adjust the anchor point of positions and opacity.

3.6 Artist Statement (WEEK 13)
My name is Tracy Angeline Tio. You can call me Tracy/Trac. On my journey at the end of semester, I was assigned to create a poster and animation themed self titled as my final project.
For me, Self titled is a way to express our identity in what we created. In work meaning, Self titled is the same as the name of the person or entity responsible for its creation. The function is to emphasizing the connection between the work and its creator, as if the work is an embodiment of the artist's identity or personal expression. Based on that, I began by finding what title suit best for the poster and it is "Doing Good Things For Myself".
Doing Good for Myself emerges as a celebration of personal growth, self-care, and the empowering journey towards self-discovery. This visual narrative encapsulates the essence of the human spirit, urging viewers to reflect on the importance of prioritizing one's well-being in the pursuit of a fulfilling existence.
Through a harmonious blend of colors, typography, and imagery, I aim to convey a sense of positivity and empowerment. I choose an element that reflect for myself which is my habit, dream to beyond like a rocket and swaying flower to describe comfort places.
Everyone deserves to be loved. You are worthy enough to love yourself by doing good for your sake. - Now I'm doing good things and you should do too.

4. FEEDBACK
WEEK 12
Mr Fauzi from Photography class commented that sketch #3 is the better one and i can go on it. He also told me to try maintain for 3-4 colors only in my poster.
WEEK 13
After checking my first attempt, Mr Hafiz said that it looks okay overall but the typography is a little subtle and not really important. The rainbow blob on the top also could cover more space on it. I need to made the typography got attention and adjust the composition on top.
5. REFLECTIONS
Experience
Reflecting on my final project, which centered around the creation of a poster titled "Doing Good for Myself" and an accompanying animation using After Effects, has been both challenging and immensely rewarding. The thematic focus on self-betterment and the visual storytelling aimed at promoting personal growth provided a meaningful context for the project.
I was so happy and grateful to finish this task on time and satisfied with the result. As I delved deeper into the animation process, I discovered the transformative power of motion graphics in conveying complex ideas and emotions. I tried to think on another way by doing the animation. It could be hard but it also develop me more about using the after effect. I got introduced to many aspect especially the effect & presets (wave and bend). I'm looking forward for the next project to discover more effects on it.
Observation
These project not only honed my technical skills in graphic design and animation but also deepened my appreciation for the storytelling potential within these mediums. The journey from uncertainty to enjoyment mirrors the broader narrative of personal growth – acknowledging the difficulty of the initial steps, embracing the learning process, and ultimately finding joy in the self-improvement journey.
