Collaborative Design Practice | Task 3 : Testing & Iterations
14.12.2025 - 28.12.2025 Week 12 - Week 14
Below show the comparison for the card before and after refinement :
For the bonus card, Pricillia do some frame exploration and we all agree to use the star on the left side. Moreover, she and lizzie also did the redesign for info card as well. We changed the shape into normal card shape to make it easier to scan the different, so user would not think that it's a game card.
All new card refinement could be view on our miro board and presentation slides as well.

MLO 3 : TESTING & ITERATIONS
TABLE OF CONTENTS
LECTURES
WEEK 1
On this week, Mr. Shamsul introduce us what are we gonna do on this module. For this semester, we are gonna collaborate with Game Studies modules. Our task is to redesign the game they have made into the final output that would enhance the user experiences of the table top game.
WEEK 2-14
Class Consultation. We showed the progress in every week.

TASK 3
Testing & Iterations
On this task, we were required to rigorously test the complete product using the best solutions identified during the prototyping phase. This is the final stage but in an iterative process, the results generated during this testing phase will be used to redefine one or more problems and inform the understanding of the users, the conditions of use, how people think, behave and feel, and to empathise.
Requirements :
- Playtest Video
- Online E-Portfolio Post

Throwback on Project 2
Back to our project 2 where we presented our work with Dr. Luqman, Miss Anis and Mr. Shamsul, we received several feedback regardin on our output. Starting from Week 12-14 we will start to refining the design, doing playtest and presenting to the client during the final week.
Game Assets Refinement - Card Design
We received comment regarding on card design. It should not focusing on the visual only. We need to focus on the test and usability as well. Right now our card have too much visual (illustration, icon, ribbon shape, frame) and the important part which is the text is too small. Since card game relies on the information first, we need to highlight the text better.
Over than that, there's a bonus card that got only 2 type with orange color. We need to make it different than normal card like sabotage, advantage, etc. At first, we tried to explore different color but the result its not really good, so we kept the current color and make a change through the frame design.

Game Assets Refinement - Token Design
Dr. Luqman give a feedback regarding on why it was designed to be star. It was based on the game creator actually but we were allowed to make a change so the game would make more sense.
During our group discussion, we got an idea turn the star into energy since sugar give energy to our body. Edita did the refinement for this part.
Game Assets Refinement - Packaging Design
For the packaging, we changed the box type with separate lid and box, which is different from before we did it since we believe this type of box would make it easier for user to open and close. The packaging refinement were done by Edita along with the mockup.
Game Assets Refinement - Book Instruction Design
Since the card was changed along with packaging design, the booklet also need to have a refinement to ensure consistency design across all the assets. The changes made are the style, along with text color.

Playtest Using Current Prototype
At last, we were tasked to test our prototype to gain more feedback. One of my teammate, Lizzie did the playtest with her friends and we gain an insight regarding on the visual design and gameplay.

Summary and Feedback we received after playtest :
- Gameplay went on for two hours with three players.
- Gameplay : The card ratio between the advantage cards (the one that gives them resources) and the energy card (the ones that give them energy tokens by 'paying' with their resources) is imbalanced. Players struggled with very little resources that they cannot use the energy cards. Using sabotage cards on other players sometimes didn't work as the other player didn't even have said resource.
- Design : It's nice that the type of cards are color coded, makes it easier to recognize. They said the illustrations are good as well.

REFLECTIONS
During this task, I learn that feedback we received was really useful as we did refinement, we could see the design is improved. I want to thank all the lecturer for the feedback that help us grow this project better.
More than that, I do realize my participation during this task isn't much like my teammates. I mostly help do the final checking and organize board, slides and assets as well so it would be easier to find. Grateful to my teammates for their hardwork to refining sugar high game!
