1. LECTURES
1. Introduction to Basic Composition
- Focal Point : A key element that must have of your design first. (The biggest one)
- Scale & Hierarchy : Often used to help communicate by drawing attention toward and away from certain elements
- Balance The Elements : To think of each elements as having a weight to it. (Ex : The more smaller, the more weigh less and the heavy might weigh more
- White Space : To balance up the main focus of a composition or helps your design to breathe
2. Rule of Thirds
- Rule of thirds is the process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines. This imaginary grid yields nine parts with four intersection points.
- Rule of third function is to :
- Use composition techniques that are in line with what's naturally pleasing to the eye.
- Creatively use negative space
- Create conversation between the subject and background
3. Golden Ratio
- Golden ratio is a mathematical ratio and it fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthethically pleasing to the eye.
- In design, golden ratio boils down to aesthethics creating and appreciating a sense of beauty through harmony and proportion.
-  One simple way to apply the golden ratio is to set your dimensions to 1:1:618
4. Composition (Framing and Cropping)
- Composition is the part where all the separate elements come together to form a whole. A successful composition means that you have arranged, distributed, aligned and compiled your design in a way that not only looks good but is also highly functional and effective.
- Several rules to make good composition :
- Find your focus
- Direct the eye with leading lines
- Scale and Hierarchy
- Balance out your elements
- Use elements that complement each other
- Boost or reduce your contrast
- Repeat elements of your design
- Don't forget the white space
- Align your elements
- Divide your design into thirds

Video 3.1 Collage Tutorial Week 2 12/10/2023
Find magazine,Choose and identify your collage design elements to be cut out and compose it into your own concept and story. Pre compositing your collage design elements into a composition. (3). For the final, choose the best one of three.
Firstly, I tried to find the material and tools to make the collage. Here are the magazine that i used to make my collage

1. PRE COMPOSITION #1

I made this collage using magazine from "national geographic genius" and got idea from the name of magazine. This collage storytelling about the progress of the genius people. They are started by dream, learning from everywhere and then gain a power to make it strong, do some revolutionary until become the king like the lion. Genius people mostly fulfill with so many knowledge.
2. PRE COMPOSITION #2

The second theme talks about work. I combined from the Genius magazine (Pre Composition 1) and The building magazine "AM The Award Issue". The man from the middle as a focal point tells about how the work is it. The building and interior act as the result from working hard. You can bought your dream house, go travel and watching sunset.
3. PRE COMPOSITION #3

Made the title "Santapan" which means food. I choose many food pictures as a decoration such as berries, strawberries, martabak manis, jelly, etc. This collage tolds that chef is the main idea because they are the cooker of the food. I'm not satisfied with the result because i can't make the chef as the focal point due to lack images of big chef in the magazine. As the result, it's not match for the criteria of composition.
5. FEEDBACK
Week 2
- General Feedback : Start to download adobe photoshop because in the next week, we are gonna use it.
- Spesific Feedback : For the three option of the collage work, Mr Fauzi said that the number one and two are good. For the number two, it fulfils the rules of composition which is the focal point and the meaning are all good same with number one. Mr Fauzi suggest me to bring those 2 collage.
