PROJECT 1 : INSTRUCTABLE INFOGRAPHICS POSTER
I'm not familiar with any pasta recipes or regional specialties because I don't eat it. As a result, I choose the food that I familiar and eat it and I found out some desserts in pasta Chanel which is Tiramisu. It is easier to made and the taste looks good. Even there were many of my classmate choose this, it is fine as long as I do not copy their information.
Next, we also need to arranged the layout that we are gonna used as the final outcome. I had four sketches that comes to my mind.
Of the four sketches, I prefer the first and third one. The first one was good but I'm not sure if all the elements could fit it ( I had to resize the elements). Third one had an aesthetic but it is impossible for me to put all the elements.
At the end, i mixed up the color but the dominant is the vibrant at the bottom. I tend to use the warm tone as the background of the poster.
When I do tracing, I had tried the font for my title and text on it. I asked my friend and she prefer the first one on top. I think it suits too because hand writing font is good for recipe to illustrate that the recipe has been written by person. For the text, I used the bottom one (Font name : MV Boli)
I forgot to take the screenshots for the progress. Only had a few and this is :
For the procedure part, I added some number in the line. I used brown as the color of it because the main color on this poster is tiramisu ( Choco, cream and a little of yellow).
I add the text as a finishing part and this is my first result :
I somewhat does not feel satisfied of the result because after i looked back my mood board, My poster had much similar one as the reference. I'm aware that Taylor's took the plagiarism seriously. Therefore, I explored more layout to changed on it. I do revised an elements like a spoon for example. I added a coffee bean on top.
I had an idea to made the tiramisu in small version, so there could had more space for procedure part. Here are the progress :
For final touch, I added shadow on the spoon and cat paws as a decoration on it.

PROJECT 1
Instructable Infographics Poster
On this project, we need to create an infographic poster for ONE recipe selected from Pasta Grannies. Study one video, break down, and chunk the preparation and cooking process into an instructable poster. Try to capture each Grandma’s personality and unique dish identity in your poster as part of the narrative structure.
Because “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Yours should reflect the following:
- To transmit or communicate a message.
- To present large amounts of information in a compact and easy-to-understand way.
- To reveal the data. Discovering cause-effect relations, knowing what’s happening.
- To periodically monitor the evolution of certain parameters.
I began the task by searching around the video on Pasta Grannies as the first step :

Chosen Video :
Fig 1.2 How to Make a Classic Tiramisu Dessert From Treviso Week 3 22/02/2024
After we choose the video, we need to studying it by write down the information that are gonna be used for the infographics (for example : ingredients and procedure). Below are some information i wrote down :Digital Version :
Ingredients :
- A pinch of salt
- Coffee (1 small bowl)
- Dark Cacao Powder
- Eggs (6)
- Lady Finger Biscuit
- Mascarpone (500 g)
- Molinari Sambuca (2 tbsp.)

- Place the cream in a glass pan flattened with spoon and add the biscuit on top
- Pour one tablespoon of coffee on top of the biscuit. Repeat it until tiramisu become layered
- Add cream for the last layer and sprinkle it with cacao powder. Bon Appetit!
Moodboard & Creating Elements :
Before I created the elements, I searched on Pinterest for inspiration. I listed up the references i used below :
I had sketches the elements that I'm gonna used and create some sketches :
Fig 1.5 Elements Created (Ingredients & Procedure) Week 03 22/02/2024
Fig 1.6 Sketches #1 Week 03 22/02/2024
Fig 1.7 Sketches #2 Week 03 22/02/2024
Fig 1.8 Sketches #3 Week 03 22/02/2024
Fig 1.9 Sketches #4 Week 03 22/02/2024
I asked Mr Shamsul for feedback and he told me to go with the sketches #1, But the right side need to be larger for the procedure because it is more important and need more space rather than the ingredients.
On ibis paint, I started to sketches it again to make it more clear ( because the paper had messy strokes on it) before i moved to ilustrator.

Almost done on it and here is the final look of the sketches :
Choosing Color Palette :
I checked again the video and observed the dominant color on it. In the video, it mostly showed us the granny kitchen in the morning/afternoon where the lights enters in the window and give the warm and monochrome tone of it.
I really like vibrant colors, it gave a strong and bright vibes that our eyes could focus on it. Therefore, I choose tiramisu color which is brown, dark brown, and yellow cream. The background does not need to be vibrant because I want to show off the element mostly. Moreover, I used my recent artwork to making the palette and i summarized it in this picture :

Digitization :
I traced out the elements first and i made another page to collected all the elements ( because in project 2, we are gonna create an animation of the poster, so better to collect it first ^^)

And finally I finished the elements and continue to manage the poster.

On the second trial, I could not fit the black cat on my poster. Therefore, I adjust it again by minimize the logo and put it above the tiramisu.
Third Trial Result :
I decided to choose the third poster after asking few friends and they voted the first and the third. First one had potential to be plagiarism, so I'm not gonna choose that.

FEEDBACK
Week 3
General Feedback : Make sure to do your work and ask for feedback to get the improvement of your work.
Specific Feedback : All sketches looks okay and Mr. Shamsul choose sketches #1 but the procedure part had to be bigger because it is more important and need lot of space than ingredients. Also, it could be the hierarchy based on L.AT.C.H principles.
Week 4
General Feedback : All people had a different time of progress. Some are fast and some are slow. We need to pay attention for the information too, not only the design.
Specific Feedback : The sketch looks good and it really details. Be careful when tracing it and do more exploration of layout.
REFLECTIONS
Experience
Through the Pasta Grannies channel, I delved into the intricacies of Italian cuisine, drawing upon personal encounters with the rich flavors and cultural nuances that define local specialty. There were so much pasta videos like carbonara, spaghettis, panettone, etc. I chose tiramisu recipe by Treviso on this project and it was not a bad choice. The recipes is simple so it would be easy to understand and make it into recipe poster. Previously, I ever created recipe poster for school project and I had little experience on it. Adjusting the layout and information is the main point on this project. I gain more experience on this project that could help me do analysis every layout.
Observation
Observing Granny Mara's video on YouTube channel Pasta Grannies unveiled a tapestry of wisdom and heritage embedded in each recipe, offering a profound insight into the authentic essence of tiramisu. The design process became a reflection of these revelations, as I endeavored to encapsulate the essence of Treviso's culinary heritage within the vibrant strokes of the infographic poster. Each element, meticulously curated and thoughtfully arranged, served as a conduit for the fusion of tradition and innovation, inviting viewers on a visual odyssey through the art of tiramisu-making.
Findings
I looked up some of my classmate blog and realized that Tiramisu recipe is the popular one on the class. Having same recipe does not mean it have same representation. There were a difference on the style, procedure and layout. What I found and I could learn on this project is every people had their own style even the theme/topic is same, like an art competition where they had one theme and the result could be varies.
